Hantverksnavet began as a directory: a neutral, nationwide index of trade businesses in Sweden, built on public registers from Bolagsverket and Skatteverket (the Swedish companies and tax authorities). Today the register covers more than 106,000 active trade businesses across 14 trades.
When you go through a hundred thousand trade businesses, you see a pattern: the craftsmanship is world-class, but the online presence is not. Companies with three generations of professional pride are represented by an abandoned Facebook page — or nothing at all. Meanwhile, nearly every customer journey now starts with a Google search.
